•⏀ (2/3) Here is a picture of the headdress I made for ‘Leif’ that can be seen in the painting in the previous post. He is a character in the ‘Alchemy Visions’ collection, inspired by many ocean meanderings under the light of a full moon 🌕 . . . As he was beginning to crystallize in my mind, I knew a few things: That he was of the ocean, strong and of the core of the earth. He had elements rooted in Norse heritage, and he grew antlers that were made of a mix between a bone like substance, as well as wood that had been weathered, beaten, and washed smoothed by the sea . . . driftwood. Thus, I naturally had to make this headdress for him . . . I needed a painting reference after all ☺️✨ It was a ton of fun to collect the driftwood, design, and build this ✨ There is not much I won’t do for a painting idea 🎨 .
The painting, ‘Leif’ is included in the 91st American Artists Professional League Grand National Exhibition, on view now through Friday, November 22, 2019 at the historical Salmagundi club in 5th Avenue in NYC. I invite you to view the show, there is a wonderful selection of great artists included this year 🖼
